Legoland Deutschland

Legoland Deutschland is located in Gunzburg, Germany.

The town of Gunzburg is located in Germany`s beautiful province of Bavaria. Bavaria borders Austria, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, which is across Lake Constance from Bavaria.

My wife and I went to Germany for three weeks and it was fantasic!

We explored the villages and towns along the "Romantic Road," as well as Frankfurt, Potsdam, Berlin and Munich. What a beautiful country it is.

What great beer it has too!

Where to Stay near Legoland Deutschland?

Legoland Holiday Village

Is right next to Legoland Deutschland and has many fun rooms for you and the kids to stay in. Legoland official hotels are all about fun, and this aptly describes Legoland Holiday Village.

They offer certain promotions like free stays for mothers over Mother`s Day and things like that.

As well as visit Legoland, you should really take in the Other Sites

While in Bavaria you can see the famous Danube River, and the Bavarian Alps. You won`t want to miss sampling some of the great German beer in Munich, and taking in the sites of that large city. Munich has many interesting and beautiful historical buildings to see.

Indeed there are many historical buildings you should see in Bavaria, but perhaps the most famous is Neuschwanstein Castle.

Germany`s Romantic Road

While in Gunzburg to take the kids to Legoland, you must not miss the Romantic Road! I am a world traveler, having been to and lived in many countries now, and this really is a must see!

Stay in some of the many villages that dot this old medieval trade route in Bavaria and Faden-Wurtemberg. I would take a few days to a week to putter along this route. You can take buses between each village or of course you could rent a car.

Must Sees:

Nördlingen, Dinkelsbühl and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and the very famous Neuschwanstein Castle. In particular I remember Rothenburg and Dinkelsbuhl with fondness--quaint little villages that take you back to medieval times.

On the Legoland Deutschland Driving School in Gunzburg

"The driving school was different than the driving schools in Legoland California and Windsor, England. Here, we had to pay a fee and reserve a time for our 9 years olds to attend. We returned to the driving school area at the designated time. The kids enter a building with staff persons. There were 8 kids all together who didn't speak German, so they were given instruction cards to read and pass to the next English speaking kid, while an instructional video in German was played. Then the kids return outside and select a car to drive. The whole event from start to finish takes 45 minutes, and each kid receives a laminated driving card with their photo. At Legoland California and Windsor, kids are done with driving school in a shorter amount of time, with less driving time, and then must head to a separate kiosk to buy a driving school photo id if desired. Another bonus with the Legoland Deutschland driving school - there is a 'car wash' the kids can drive through which mists the driver, refreshing on a hot day!"

Bavarian Food & Drink

As well as sampling the many great traditional German dishes cooked to perfection in Bavaria, you can try the many unique Bavarian fare too. Some examples include:

*Weisswurst is a kind of white sausage

*Great Bavarian beer (served by the liter)

German beer for years has by law only included three ingredients, to insure purity (in fact it is the result of the Germany Purity Law). All beer should include only:

water, barley and hops.

The EU struck this law down, however German brewers endeavor to keep to the spirit of it.

The Countries near Bavaria

Austria, the Czech Republic and Switzerland all lie abreast of Bavaria, explore them too if you have the time. You won`t regret it!
