Lego Ideas – A Great Educational Tool for Your Child’s Development

by Sandra Johnson

Do not make the mistake of thinking that Lego is just a pastime. Toys play a major role in boosting imagination and creativity in children. Using Lego will have a huge impact on the development and growth of your child.

This is why you should check out the new ideas on a regular basis. Here are the top six methods where you can use Lego ideas to help your child grow and develop skills faster. The first three are by regularly checking our Blog and Forums at the following links:

More Advice

a. Discover lego ideas and request that your child implement them by building such structures. This will help you assess whether the child is in a position to form the right mental image of the instructions you offer. Who knows theremay be a future career as an engineer or architect for littleSusie or Johnny.

b. Encourage your child to complete partial lego ideas that you suggest. You can offer a paved smooth surface and then find out how your child takes it forward. From an elaborate railway station to an airport runway – the breadth of your child’s creativity can be easily analyzed.

c. Encourage your child to check out ideas on his or her own. From discussions with friends and relatives to online search – you should give maximum opportunities to your child to not just build the structure but also plan it from scratch.

d. Often the best way as a parent is to sit back and enjoy watching our children. We are often guilty of getting overly involved. The children often know what`s best and have the best ideas. This website was conceived by two of them. They have also written many of the articles here and contributed many of the photos. They are also working on some Lego movies.

The kids often know what`s best!

On the other hand:

What is the fun in suggesting ideas if you are not in a position to keep the child motivated? From taking snaps of the resulting structures to posting video snippets of the construction process online – there are numerous methods to make sure your child gets lots of praise for her/his efforts.

We all like to dream of being proficient in multiple tasks at once. (I can drive and listen to music at the same time!) Why not encourage your child to dream of being an architect from the comforts of your house with the help of this wonderful game and great new ideas? Who knows, you may find that your child is a virtual prodigy when it comes to creating ideas for structures.

Jonah Burns at three years old, created amazing structures fromwooden blocks. We didn`t own Lego then. The structures were so good that Kevin and his wife Ikumi took pictures of them.

The trick was Kevin said, "that we didn`t get involved. We let him create and sat back, watched and enjoyed."

That was the start to Jonah`s interest in building with blocks. He then went on to Duplo and then regular Lego. Then he and his brother Sennah came up with the idea for this website. We hope you enjoy it! We are enjoying the ride!
